The tragic story of a prostitute who is drift into devastation with her desire for luxury...

Nana, born as a daughter of drunken parents in a shanty town of Paris, lives in poverty until she is discovered by Théâtre des Variétés. After her discovery, she becomes one of the top level cocottes of the city.  Rich men, marquis, counts die for her. The socialite women try to look like her and her lovers kill themselves for her.  The hedonist desire that Nana has for luxury and her unlimited deviant pleasures continue until they lead to the end of her.  Nana caused a great amount of turmoil in the year that it was published, 1880, and the protagonist was cursed as “a prostitute that has the most cruel and brutish” character.  The rich atmosphere of the desires of men given in a brilliant poetic language made Nana a legendary character: a shattering power that is fed with a corrupted and decadent society.
